Turning Flowers Into Gold

That’s the slogan for Tassot Apiaries, a family-run beekeeping business located at the aptly named Buzzing Acres Farms in Hunterdon County, NJ. The Tassots produce high quality, chemical free, raw honey and other bee products such as hand-made beeswax candles and soaps. Their products are sold at their honeybee farm as well as farmers’ markets, select retailers and online (scroll down for link to website). I came across Mr. Tassot when he took his wares on the road to Princeton where I was touring Drumthwacket (the NJ governor’s mansion) last Christmas. I purchased some of his honey, and discovered his farm is located just minutes from my home!

Since then I’ve had the pleasure of popping into his small shop at the farm, well stocked with more than just honey. He handcrafts beautiful candles and yummy smelling soaps as well as all-natural lip balms and other goodies.

Once you know the health benefits of using pure, unfiltered, unheated raw honey you’ll never purchase commercially produced honey again. Same goes for natural beeswax candles and soaps. They last so much longer than their mass-produced versions. The candles burn cleanly and don’t leech nasty chemicals into the air you breathe as they burn. The soaps have a rustic hand-made charm, lather generously and last incredibly long (just be sure to keep them in a well-drained soap dish). They come in many scents as well as an unscented version.

I’m super-glad to have discovered this wonderful small local business. I truly enjoy their products for my own home and to give as gifts. Nothing feels better than to give a gift I’d love to receive! Visit Tassot Apiaries in person or online.
