It’s a drinkable dessert. The yummiest hot chocolate I ever had. I can’t take credit for it. Just sharing the yummylicious goodness. Whoever came up with this must have been inspired by the patron saint of hot beverages!
I found it posted on Pinterest by Jill Nystul of One Good Thing By Jillee fame, who in turn credits Mrs. Happy Homemaker .
I scaled down the recipe by half to make four large mugs’ worth of cocoa.
In a small crockpot combine:
- 3 cups milk
- 3/4 cup whipping cream
- 1/2 can condensed milk
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Cover and cook for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
If you want it faster, pre-warm the milk and cream in the microwave or just make it in a pan on the stovetop. This was by far the most satisfying cup of hot chocolate I ever had. I’m sure it was also the most high-calorie, especially after I spiked it with some brandy, but oh what a treat on a wintry day!!
