Twenty-Five Christmases

And Easters and Thanksgivings and New Years celebrated in this NJ home of ours. There will be a 26th Easter. Will there be a 26th Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Since January of this year my husband and I have been planning for the construction of our retirement home in beautiful Northeastern Pennsylvania. The year is now at its end, and we have hit delays and setbacks to the point that we are not entirely sure if we’ll be moving in 2024 as planned. It’s frustrating to be reliant upon others to come through with information, estimates and delivery of work agreed upon but not achieved in a timely manner. Unless things take a turn for the faster in the new year, we will indeed be spending another Christmas in our present location.

At this point we are on to a second home builder and a third driveway company. Not that there is anything awfully wrong with the first home builder or the previous two driveway guys, beyond circumstances not fully in anyone’s control which are too complicated to get into. And I’d just rather not write about the details, boring as they are. The first home builder is actually working to get our business back, while the second is still taking their sweet time with getting us locked in.

One day I would like to laugh at all this from my future front porch as I gaze out at the marvelous view of the rolling hills before me. Pray God that day of laughter will be next year.

Those are the hills!
